Bahk Joohyeon is a choreographer who specialized in Korean dance. They work across the media of performance, writing, and photography. The theme they focuse on in their choreography questions the institutional power that marginalizes those not recognized as dancers, those deemed inappropriate for the stage, and those considered incapable of being part of a performance.
They are working on their new piece, 〈Ueno Salpuri〉, scheduled for performance in November 2026. This project explores the ‘queerness of Korean dance’ and the ‘Korean roots of queer performance art’.
